Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Funfetti cake mix heat treated
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract optional
  • 8 oz frozen whipped topping thawed
  • 1/2 cup rainbow jimmies sprinkles divided
  • 2 boxes animal crackers for serving

Method
 

  1. **Heat treat.** Spread cake mix in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave 75 seconds, stirring every 25 seconds, to kill raw flour bacteria. Cool 5 minutes.
  2. **Beat.** Beat softened cream cheese with sweetened condensed milk 2 minutes until completely smooth.
  3. **Mix.** Add vanilla, almond extract, and cooled cake mix. Beat 1 minute until evenly combined.
  4. **Fold.** Gently fold in whipped topping in 3 additions until no white streaks remain.
  5. **Sprinkle.** Fold in 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles.
  6. **Chill.** Transfer to a serving bowl and chill 30 minutes for the dip to firm up.
  7. **Serve.** Top with remaining 1/4 cup sprinkles and serve with animal crackers, graham crackers, or vanilla wafers.

Notes

Heat treat the cake mix in the microwave 75 seconds to kill any raw flour bacteria. Use Pillsbury Funfetti for the most authentic birthday cake flavor. Soften cream cheese 1 hour for a smooth lump free dip.
