Mini Pizza Faces

A delicious homemade mini pizza faces recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 English muffins, split in half 8 faces
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Slice d black olives for eyes
  • Slice d bell peppers, red, yellow, green for smiles and eyebrows
  • Slice d mushrooms for noses
  • Cherry tomato halves for cheeks
  • Corn kernels for teeth

Method
 

  1. Prep. Preheat oven to 375F. Place English muffin halves cut-side up on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Slice and prep all veggie toppings into face-friendly shapes.
  2. Sauce. Spread about 1 tablespoon of marinara on each muffin half. This is the face's skin color base.
  3. Cheese. Sprinkle mozzarella over the sauce. Leave enough space to see where the face features will go once the cheese melts.
  4. Design. Let kids arrange veggie toppings as faces. Two olive slices for eyes, a bell pepper curve for a smile, a mushroom slice for a nose. Every face will look different and that is the fun part.
  5. Bake. Pop in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the muffin edges are golden. Let cool 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pre-slice all veggies into face-feature shapes before calling kids to the table. Thin strips, circles, and curves work best. Let kids design their faces BEFORE baking so the veggies stick into the melted cheese. Take a photo of each kid's pizza face before they eat it. They love seeing their creations.
